What is Vattenfall?

Vattenfall is a unique Swedish company that was founded back in 1909. At that time the company only operated in its homeland and focused on hydroelectric power generation. Since then a lot has changed with our company, all these years we have developed and reached new heights.

We now operate not only in Sweden but also in Great Britain, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, and Germany. At the moment we are considered as one of the leading companies in the electricity sector in European countries. We have approximately 20,000 people working in the company to make all our missions and goals a reality.

What do we do and what is our purpose?

We are an energy company that brings energy to our customers, into their homes. Every day we are working on new technologies towards the goal of 'being fossil fuel-free. That's our number one company goal, and we want to achieve it within a generation.

What are we doing to achieve this goal?

We're expanding the love affair with electric vehicles every day. We provide convenience to all-electric vehicle owners. We install charging stations for these cars. This is our pride of place called InCharge. We have developed a network of these chargers that are now showing successful use in European countries. At the moment, more than 30,000 such charging stations have been installed, which are used by more than 250,000 owners of electric cars. These numbers are increasing day by day and in this way, we contribute to the reduction of gas emissions. It's no secret that new generations of electrically-powered vehicles are also gaining popularity because they are cheaper and kinder to the environment. As a result, the need for infrastructure for such vehicles is also growing, and that is exactly what we are doing.

We plan to create steel without using fossil fuels. We seriously believe that conventional steel is more valuable than gold. Why do we think so? This kind of metal is able to reduce the total CO 2 emissions by as much as 7 percent. We all know we can't stop making steel because it's so important in our lives and so important, but if we can create a world without fossil fuels, we will make our planet a lot cleaner. It is for this reason that we created an initiative called HYBRIT. It is a hydrogen project that will further help produce metal without fossil fuels.

We are all aware of the problems of plastic in the 21st century. The fact is that any plastic consists of approximately 85 percent carbon. But that same carbon also came from somewhere and it's mostly produced by fossil fuels. We have found a solution to this problem, we understand that we can't get rid of plastic quickly and completely, so we propose to change the way plastic is made. In this way, we will get exactly the same plastic that can be recycled, made entirely without the use of fossil fuels.
